Responsible, Caring Farmers: Coming to a Location Near You!
In 2014-15 you’ll be seeing faces of young, caring farmers and ranchers throughout Saskatchewan … on billboards, buses and benches, in airports – and even on the back of restroom doors!
On May 15, 2014 the Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan (FACS) launched its ‘Faces of Farming’ campaign, an expanded version of previous years’ efforts to let consumers know that producers are responsible and caring in the raising of their animals.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to put a modern face to agriculture for consumers,” states Adele Buettner, Executive Director of FACS. “We want people to know that there are many young farm families in Saskatchewan who are dedicated to agriculture and the food they put on consumers’ plates.”
Starting May 15, a composite ad consisting of photos of all seven commodity groups (beef, dairy, pork, chicken, egg, bison and horse) appeared on a city bus bench at 22nd Street and Avenue P in Saskatoon and on a MetroBin (recycling bin) at 21st Street and 4th Avenue. The ads will be in place at these locations for a one-year term.
Beginning June 1 for a one-year period, composite ads also appeared at the baggage carousels at both the Saskatoon and Regina airports.
The billboard campaign through CBS Outdoors (some single commodity, some composite designs) will run in two segments: May 26 – October 5, 2014 and November 3 – December 14, 2014.
Additional promotional mediums over the next year for the Faces of Farming campaign will include: interior ceiling decals on buses in Regina (November 28 – December 3, 2014) and Captive Audience advertising on the back of restroom doors at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina and at various Boston Pizza locations throughout the province (November 3-30, 2014).
FACS has repeatedly reinforced ‘we care’ since first featuring billboards in 1996. The annual campaign has become one of FACS’ most anticipated, high-profile and visible activities.
FACS thanks the following for supporting the 2014 multi-commodity campaign: Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, Sask Pork, Saskatchewan Bison Association, Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association, Saskatchewan Egg Producers, Saskatchewan Horse Federation, SaskMilk, and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture. Additional funding for the expanded campaign was provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture through the Agriculture Awareness Initiative, a Growing Forward 2 program.

The Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan (FACS) was established in 1992 to serve as the voice of Saskatchewan producers regarding animal welfare. During its long, respected history FACS has become the only member-based, industry-led non-profit organization advancing animal responsible animal care for livestock and poultry commodities in Saskatchewan.
