Recipients Announced for Awards of Distinction for Equine Welfare
Farm & Food Care SK was very pleased to partner with the Saskatchewan Horse Federation again in 2017 to present the Awards of Distinction for Equine Welfare.
“Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan works to cultivate awareness and appreciation of agriculture and responsible animal care in our province. Caring for animals is a responsibility Saskatchewan farmers and ranchers take very seriously and the Equine Awards highlight this role,” says Clinton Monchuk, Executive Director of FFC SK.
The 2017 Equine Welfare Leadership Award was presented to Candis and Darrel Molde of Parkbeg, Saskatchewan. The Leadership Award recognizes an honoree for their leadership and commitment in issues relevant to animal care.
The citation stated: “The Moldes lead by example by researching and putting into action a plan for each and every horse that they are involved with. Candis puts detailed research in nutritional, veterinary and hoof care options so that she can develop a long-term care plan for each horse…The Moldes are always willing to assist other horse owners with advice, guidance and support. They truly ensure that the utmost care and handling of horses is their top priority.”
The Saskatchewan Horse Federation was also pleased to announce the winner of the Volunteer Recognition Award, Reta Vipond of Glenavon. Reta is 94 years old, and became involved when her children began showing horses. She continues to attend horse shows today to watch her great-grandchildren in action.
The award recipients were honoured March 4, 2017 at the Saskatchewan Horse Federation Annual General Meeting in Saskatoon.
