Help us build trust in farming and food
Research conducted by the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity continues to show gaps in the public’s trust in food production. There is growing concern about the practices we follow and the tools we use to grow food. This can prompt policymakers to tighten regulations, leading to increased costs and concerns for farmers and agribusinesses. A lack of trust in our processes can hinder innovation and adoption of new farming methods, technologies, and sustainable practices that have the potential to improve food production and environmental impact.
That’s where we come in. Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan works to bring sustainability and trust to our food system our economy and our communities.
Building public trust in agriculture bolsters our ability to meet the challenges of food security, climate change, and sustainability in farming practices. It supports investments in research and innovation. It creates opportunities for sustainable and climate-responsible practices. And it ensures a healthy future for generations of Canadians.
The kinds of activities we do:
- Farm tours
- Presentations
- Online information and outreach
- Digital gallery of modern farming images
- Conferences and seminars
- Training for ag communicators
By encouraging Canadians to view the agriculture industry as sustainable, caring, and innovative, we can change consumer attitudes and behaviours, government regulations, and public policy. But we need your help! There is lots of work to be done and many consumers to reach.
In December 2023, Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan partnered with the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation to enable donations to support our work to build public trust in farming and food. Contributions can now be made through the donation portal on farmfoodcaresk.org. Donations through this system are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt.
You’ll notice that donors have the option of contributing either to the Community Fund or the Legacy Fund. Donations to the non-endowed Community Fund help respond to immediate community needs, while donations to the Legacy Fund (Endowed) grow over time and will benefit public trust work for many years to come.
By donating to Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, you are investing in a strong future for agriculture and food production. Thank you for your support!
