The Food Influencer Program builds relationships with food writers, health professionals, chefs, culinary educators, and others who influence food choices. The program consists of tours of farms and food facilities, learning opportunities and networking activities.
Our invited guests have the opportunity to experience working farms, ranches and processing facilities and to speak directly with the people who produce food. Past tour stops have included visits to grain farms, cattle ranches, dairy/chicken/egg barns, greenhouses, research facilities and food manufacturers. The tour usually also showcases cultural and historic landmarks as well as some of Saskatchewan’s finest chefs and restaurants.
Participants also take part in seminars which provide an overview of agriculture, food safety and biosecurity, the use of pesticides and biotechnology such as genetic engineering, and several question and answer sessions. Tour alumni use what they’ve learned in their future communications and many go on to work on other projects with Canadian producer organizations.
