Food Evolution Screening & Discussion

With all the confusing reports about our food, it is difficult to make a confident decision when it comes to feeding ourselves and our families. From Academy Award® nominated director Scott Hamilton Kennedy, and narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Food Evolution is a documentary that explores the facts about food production methods around the world. Its goal is to promote a more science-based conversation about food while staying unbiased by influencing agendas.

The Saskatoon premiere will be followed by a panel discussion on the topics and themes explored by the documentary. Our esteemed panel of scientists, researchers, politicians and educators from across the world include:

  • Mr. Adam Malima, Politician and former Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives, United Republic of Tanzania
    Mr. Malima is a strong advocate for harnessing biotechnology to feed his country.
  • Dr. Steve Shirtliffe, Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon SK
    Dr. Shirtliffe is a professor in the Plant Sciences department at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture where he specializes in field crop agronomy and weed ecology in organic production systems.
  • Dr. Maurice Moloney, Executive Director and CEO Global Institute for Food Security, Saskatoon SK
    Dr. Moloney is a renowned plant biochemist and researcher who contributed to the development of the GMO canola production system in Canada.
  • Dr. Shannon Hood-Niefer, Vice President, Innovation and Technology, Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre, Saskatoon SK – Dr. Hood-Neifer works to develop new food innovations and business opportunities and is passionate about creating nutritious food.
