Moose Jaw’s Food Story

October 21, 2017, 1 – 4 pm, Sask Polytechnic, 600 Saskatchewan St W, Moose Jaw, SK

As part of Agriculture Month the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan are hosting this public event to create awareness of farming and locally produced food products. It will include three short presentations from Saskatchewan experts on GMOs, the use of hormones and antibiotics in meat production and food security, followed by a trade fair showcasing information from some local industry experts and some of the wholesome foods produced in our province! From honey and berries to milk and beef, come explore Saskatchewan’s food story and learn more about the people who grow your food!

  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Speaker Series
    • Adrienne Ivey, Cattle Rancher and Blogger – What you need to know about Hormones and Antibiotics in Meat
    • Joanne Ernest and Dr. Dorota Paczesniak, Post-Doctoral Fellows, Global Institute for Food Security – Beyond GMO – New Technologies in Genetic Engineering for Designing Future Food
    • Melanie Warken, Public Health Nutritionist at Five Hills Health Region – Healthy Eating … Beyond the Four Food Groups
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Children’s activities led by Agriculture in the Classroom
  • 2 p.m. Information and Trade Fair begins
