With the growing divide between non-farmers and the people who grow their food, concerted consumer outreach is more important than ever. Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan administers a variety of programs to build public trust in food and farming. Many of our programs offer an opportunity for your organization to partner with us to achieve greater recognition with specific target audiences.
Canadian Food Focus | throughout the year
Canadian Food Focus continues to build consumer trust and food literacy from farm to plate by providing information about farming and food through articles, videos and social media posts utilizing food and farm experts that are proven influencers according to date from the Canadian Center for Food Integrity.
Over the past year, Canadian Food Focus has established itself as the source of trusted information on Canadian food and farming. We achieve between 2 to 5 million impressions every month. In the past year, Canadian Food Focus achieved 35 million impressions and 9.5 million social media engagements (likes, shares, comments, video views) with average website pageviews of over 30,000 each month.
Our main target is food decision makers: more specifically, urban women ages 25 to 55. However, depending on the topic, we sometimes direct our advertising to other groups. Our team, including top-level food, health, and farm influencers, has the capacity to speak at conferences/webinars, write and edit articles, produce videos, and create social media posts and graphics.
Your support for Canadian Food Focus contributes to:
- Articles, videos, online courses and other content on the Canadian Food Focus website
- Advertising through social media channels to reach a wider consumer audience
- Messaging around sustainable farming practises
- Communications and professional development activities for ‘food influencers’ such as dietitians, chefs, food writers, educators and students
- Promotional events to raise awareness of CFF and Canadian-grown foods
To date, we have developed customized campaigns ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 with combinations of items such as in the list below. We are also open to new partnership ideas and have partnered with other groups on initiatives such as Speaker Series, Food Day Canada, webinars and speakers for conferences. Please contact us to discuss your specific goals.
Articles
- In the Kitchen Articles answer consumer questions about how to cook with your ingredient or share articles of consumer interest with your ingredient woven in: topics such as food safety, preventing food waste, meal planning, grocery shopping, etc.
- Recipes and Recipe Round-Up Articles showcase recipes featuring your ingredient and around a selected theme. Recipes can be added to our searchable database or linked to your website.
- Health Articles are related to the health and nutritional aspects of your ingredient or topics of consumer interest around specific nutrients such as iron or protein, debunking food myths or nutrition trends with your ingredient woven in, etc.
- Canadian Food Stories seek to share the human side of agriculture, with profiles of farmers, chefs, businesses or other information of interest to consumers about your industry.
- On the Farm Articles answer consumer questions about an aspect of farming related to your ingredient. This might include articles to accompany ‘Ask an Expert’ videos or which provide an overview of different types of agriculture.
- What’s In Season Articles features information about how to choose, buy, store, and cook with Canadian-grown ingredients as well as when they are in season and includes information about how the ingredient is grown and links to grower websites.
We encourage developing content in each of our content areas to create a well-rounded snapshot of your ingredient. Articles are written by experts in the food, health, and farming influencers community and shared and promoted through our social channels with advertising to increase viewership.
Videos
- Ask a Farmer/Ask an Expert Videos are short videos (1 to 2 minutes) in which a farmer or other expert answers a question targeted at consumers. Experience shows that these short videos resonate well with non-farming consumers and are often shared and viewed in full. Videos are posted on our YouTube Channel in an Ask the Expert Playlist and shared through CFF social media channels.
- On the Farm Videos are short videos (1 to 2 minutes) explaining different types of farming and are essential story farm tours. Videos will be posted on our YouTube Channel in an Ask the Expert Playlist and shared through CFF social media channels.
- A Year in the Life Series is a vlog that features an ongoing series with short behind-the-scenes videos about what is happening during a particular year at a specific farm or ranch. The videos are curated into a series on YouTube and Facebook and shared through CFF social media channels.
- Cook Along Videos feature Canadian food influencers preparing a recipe with information and tips about Canadian ingredients. Viewers can download a recipe sheet and grocery list and either cook along or simply watch the video. The videos are curated into a series on YouTube and Facebook and shared through CFF social media channels. They can also become part of our Learn to Cook lessons and courses.
- Meal Ideas Videos are short hands-and-pans videos that have already been produced by our partners. We rebrand these videos with Canadian Food Focus branding for greater sharing and incorporate them into our social calendar and website.
Learn to Cook Lessons and Courses
- Lessons: Using footage from an existing cook along video, we can create a lesson plan with learning objectives. We are investigating a partnership with Ag in the Classroom to add additional activities.
- Courses: Several lessons can be curated into a course that includes existing lessons around a central theme.
See our current bank of Learn To Cook courses for examples.

Agriculture Week | October 2024
FFC SK works closely with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and FFC SK member groups to celebrate this important industry in our province each October. This year, our campaign will be especially concentrated October 6-12, 2024–the week before Thanksgiving– to maximize our impact and reach. FFC SK is proud to lead the industry to tell our food story through outreach campaigns, events and programming. The intent is to help people better understand how Saskatchewan farmers and ranchers raise their livestock and grow their crops, and to engage authentic conversations with people from around the province.
We’re pleased to lead the annual CelebrateAg Photo Contest, which showcases images from across the province and from all different sectors of agriculture.
Each year, we develop and promote a strong online campaign that includes professional graphics to share with industry, comprehensive social media communications and strategic partnerships with social media influencers to amplify our message. We host an online contest to boost awareness and increase engagement. Additional activities in past years have included: promotions at grocery stores and farmers’ markets; information sessions at the University of Saskatchewan; TV appearances and cooking demonstrations, distribution of The Real Dirt on Farming booklets and numerous media interviews. Each year, our campaign reaches several million online and another 200,000 through our events, outreach activities, information distribution and media coverage.
