Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Month is right around the corner and here are a few details to get you planning how you will celebrate in October!
This year’s #CelebrateAg Month theme is #MealsFromtheFarm. It builds on the success of Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan and Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan’s “Meals From the Farm” project in June where we were able to provide Saskatchewan-made lunches to almost 2000 students in Yorkton, Lloydminster, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon. As well, there are several synergies to extending this theme through Agriculture Month in October.
The Meals From the Farm theme can be used to:
- Celebrate the great food produced by Saskatchewan farmers
- Highlight the meals shared out in the field at harvest time
- Showcase the community fall suppers featuring locally grown foods
- Support meals in your community by giving back through support for organizations such as the food banks, soup kitchens and other community organizations
We hope you will join us on social media, enter our photo contest or even plan an event or meal of your own to #CelebrateAg and #MealsFromtheFarm.
Here are a few things we have planned for Agriculture Month in Saskatchewan:
Supporting meals from the farm in our communities
- Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan (FFCSK), in partnership with Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, is hosting a ‘Meals From the Farm’ luncheon at the Friendship Inn on September 29 in Saskatoon. We encourage people to make their own donations to Friendship Inn or other community organizations to ensure everyone can enjoy a meal from the farm.
