Canadian Western Agribition is Canada’s largest livestock show and welcomes over 100,000 attendees to Regina over a week in late November each year. Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan was pleased to team up with Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan to host an exhibit at Agribition this fall.
FFC SK showcased the virtual farm tours from FarmFood360, showing school kids and consumers of all ages what it looked like inside a chicken barn, see how cattle are raised, find out where mushrooms grow, and many other kinds of Canadian farms. Visitors would put on headsets and be immersed in one of these farms. Some of the comments overheard included: “Whoa!”; “I’ve never seen a turkey up close,”; and “I feel like I’m actually there!”
Our staff were kept busy from show opening until close. Over the week, we hosted 1,122 viewers.
“It was awesome to be able to offer a farm experience to people who have never been to a farm before,” said Clinton Monchuk, FFC SK Executive Director. “We also enjoyed the opportunity to connect with so many of our member groups and learn how they are reaching consumers.”
“I had fun showing consumers what I’ve experienced growing up on a farm,” said Angela Larson, FFC SK Digital Media & Communications Specialist.
