Make it Beef Club

Did you know?

  • Beef provides a concentrated source of vital nutrients that humans need – quality protein and one of nature’s best sources of iron, zinc and B vitamins – just as nature intended, without processing, fabrication or fortification.
  • There is a community of approximately 60,000 dedicated beef farming and ranching families across the country to raise the quality Canadian beef you love.
  • Marbling refers to the small white flecks of fat that contribute to the flavour, juiciness and tenderness of beef. Canada AAA-grade beef consistently delivers an outstanding eating experience due to its high degree of marbling.
  • Research shows that almost half (46%) of the calories in Canadian diets comes from nutrient-poor ultra-processed foods, so it’s not surprising that many of us aren’t meeting our daily nutrient needs for iron, zinc, calcium, potassium, magnesium, thiamine, vitamins A, C, D, B6 and B12. Beef is a naturally nutrient-dense single ingredient protein food that contains a number of the nutrients of concern that many Canadians need more of in their diets.
  • Cattle preserve native grasslands and divert food waste; they reduce wildfire risk and encourage biodiversity.
  • Cattle help improve soil health. They tramp organic matter into the earth, enabling decomposition and providing natural fertilizer. These are eco-service benefits that other land users do not provide.

Keeping Birds on the Canadian Grasslands

Dr. Artuso explains the important relationship cattle have on the Great Plains grasslands and how the grasslands support many unique birds. Cattle grazing can mimic what the bison once did.
