Saskatchewan was proud to lead the Agriculture Week awareness campaign in the province in 2024. The Government of Saskatchewan proclaimed Agriculture Week as October 6-12 and this event highlighted the vital role of agriculture in the province through events and an online campaign that reached 1.6 million people. The initiative effectively combined social media, a video campaign, a photo contest and online new sources to create significant engagement and awareness.
We continued using the hashtag “CelebrateAg”, building the momentum around this year’s theme of celebrating shared values. We were fortunate to again partner with the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association on this campaign.

Among our notable Ag Week events was a discussion panel on food innovations held at the Regina Public Library on October 9. Panelists included Alanna Koch, Chairperson of the Global Institute for Food Security; Bernice Richard, COO of Custom Agriculture Intelligence Inc; and Erika Stewart, Provincial Coordinator of Verified Beef Production Plus. With 34 attendees, the panel discussed sustainable food practices and technological advances in agriculture which have helped position Saskatchewan as a world leader in food production, research and environmentally responsible farm practices.
Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan also promoted and supported the University of Saskatchewan’s Simpson Lecture on October 10 in Saskatoon. Dr. Joyce Slater spoke of the importance of food literacy for Canadians and shared tips and resources for inclusive and non-moralizing messaging.
Our online photo contest encouraged Saskatchewan residents to join the celebration by sharing their photos of farm scenes, people, crops, animals, innovations, and farm history. By month’s end, the contest had more than 75 entries. Click here to view the gallery.
