Securing public trust secures farmers’ ability to grow food
The need for accessible, clear and credible information about food has never been greater. There are far-reaching and catastrophic consequences to the ag sector if we choose not to respond to this need in a unified and deliberate way.
This is our reason for being at Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan and our national organization, Canadian Food Focus.
We need to engage consumers and provide answers to their questions about the food system and information to help them make confident food choices to be informed grocery shoppers. Improving food literacy for Canadians will improve public trust in food production and secure supportive public policy for agriculture.

Without trust, we will lose the use of proven, safe tools and technologies that we have today. We need to build an enabling policy environment that encourages and accelerates the development and transfer of new innovations to meet the challenges of food security, climate change, food waste, clean water, and others.
We’re looking for fellow champions to build trust in our sector. Here’s how you can help:
- Become a member of Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan.
- Encourage others to become members of Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan.
- Contribute to Canadian Food Focus.
- Invite us to speak at your annual conference.
- Introduce us to your national board or affiliated organizations in other provinces to speak about how we’re engaging consumers through Canadian Food Focus.
- Speak up at meetings: building trust in agriculture is important to our sectors, our communities and our country.
- Feature our work in your newsletters.
- Follow us on social media: @FarmFoodCareSK @CDNFoodFocus.
- Reach out to us share your own public trust work so we can amplify and collaborate.
This job is too big for any one person or entity. Let’s continue to tackle this together.
Thank you for your support. It means everything.
