Three new virtual reality tours are now available from FarmFood360.ca.
Viewers can follow each crop’s journey from planting to bloom, through to harvesting and processing, while hearing directly from the farmers who grow them. Viewers will experience the farm as if they are standing in the fields themselves, exploring every stage of the growing season firsthand.
Apples

Take a look behind-the-scenes at apple farming practices like pollination, summer pruning, picking, packing, cider processing, and controlled atmosphere storage. It was developed in partnership with the Ontario Apple Growers and the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
Field Tomatoes

Visit the Pinsonneault family farm in Chatham-Kent, Ontario and see how growers use specialized equipment to plant and care for their crops, manage weather, pest, and disease challenges, and produce high-quality tomatoes for canned goods. This tour was completed in partnership with the Ontario Processing Vegetable Growers, Conagra Brands, and the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
Grain Corn

This tour visits the Van Quaethem family farm in Eden, Ontario and highlights soil preparation, planting, crop management, and harvest using modern equipment and precision technology. Family members walk viewers through how they steward their land, manage weather, pest and disease challenges. This tour was produced in partnership with Grain Farmers of Ontario and the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
This project also received support from the Government of Canada through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
Farm & Food Care Ontario leads the FarmFood 360 initiative and have produced 29 farm tours since it launched in 2016. Each year, FarmFood360 attracts over a million online visitors who are eager to gain a deeper understanding of Canadian agriculture.
