We in the ag sector often hear how important it is for farmers to share their story. It is not always clear about the best way to do this or which organizations or individuals are doing what. This is why Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan (FFC SK) actively engages with our members and their supporters. Included with each membership to FFC SK is the offer of a presentation about how we are influencing the public’s trust in agriculture.

We were pleased to present to Grain Millers, an Affiliate member with FFC SK, at two meetings in Yorkton, SK this spring. The two evening meetings included both organic and conventional farmers that sell to Grain Millers. About half of the crowd had heard of FFC SK in the past, but most weren’t familiar with many of the activities we do. There was substantial interest in our Saskatchewan Open Farm Days as well as our Canadian Food Focus engagement. We do find that when farmers and ranchers hear our messages, they are overwhelmingly supportive of the actions we’re taking. In fact, a couple of farmers at these meetings showed interest in taking part as hosts in the Saskatchewan Open Farm Days event this August.
These past few years we have taken a stronger approach to engaging with our members and partners. We enjoy speaking to those who are involved in agriculture and want to spread the word about the collective successes we’ve achieved. Building trust in food and farming is a big job. We can help reassure your members that FFC SK is working on your behalf to raise public awareness and confidence in Canadian agriculture.
Whether you’re a rural municipality, larger agri-business or commodity group, FFC SK would be happy to speak to your supporters at upcoming meetings.
